Richard Platt is a Senior New Product Development Technologist at Muntons' Innovation Centre located in Stowmarket, Suffolk. With a strong background in food, Richards holds a BSc in Food and Consumer Management. His career spanned various roles in the food industry, including bakery, savoury pastry, and prepared vegetables and salads. At Muntons, Richard is part of the Innovation Team, where he explores new and existing applications for malted ingredients.

As consumer awareness grows, the importance of food safety is more critical than ever. This talk covers emerging trends that help ensure the highest safety standards along with an introduction to the UK Food Safety Research Network.
Dr. Melissa Antoniou-Kourounioti is the Network and Partnerships Manager for the Food Safety Research Network (FSRN) located at Quadram Institute. Her role is to support the network's success by attracting new members, facilitating fruitful communication between members, and enabling impactful collaborations in the field of food safety.
Melissa grew up on Crete, Greece and moved to London to pursue her fascination in genetics and molecular biology at King’s College. After a master’s on developmental biology in Nottingham and a PhD on cell biology at Cambridge, she moved to Norwich to work as a PostDoc at UEA looking at cardiac development in chicken embryos. Melissa then moved to the Quadram Institute to pursue a career in science administration and programme management.
Melissa is interested in chatting to academics to answer research questions, look at funding collaborative projects to improve food safety and fund flexible talent mobility awards. Melissa will be staying for the afternoons 1:1 networking, so don't forget to book in with her.

Anastasios has 15+ years experience in re-planning and re-engineering production process lines for industrial equipment. His successful track record includes optimising thermal processes and implementing solutions for waste-to-energy generation, energy monitoring, heat pumps and refrigeration, mechanical vapour recompression and high-density thermal storage.
